ROAFF: The Festival That Makes La Filature de Ronchamp Vibrate
In the spring of 2021, while the Eurockéennes de Belfort were canceled for the second consecutive year due to the health crisis, a group of volunteers from the Ronchamp Festival and Twinning Committee decided not to let silence settle. They called upon Kem Lalot, programmer for the Eurockéennes and a local, to set up a mini-festival at the La Filature de Ronchamp site, a former industrial wasteland beautifully rehabilitated into a cultural space at the foot of the hill of Notre-Dame du Haut, a masterpiece by Le Corbusier.
An Industrial Setting Steeped in History
La Filature de Ronchamp, once the beating heart of the local textile industry, offers a unique setting to host a contemporary music festival. Its brick walls, metal structures, and vast outdoor spaces create a singular atmosphere, between industrial heritage and musical effervescence. The site, nestled in the Rahin valley at the gates of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park, allows festival-goers to enjoy an exceptional green setting.
An Eclectic and Accessible Program
ROAFF cultivates a resolutely eclectic spirit. From independent rock to rap, electro, and metal, the program covers a wide musical spectrum over two evenings. Each edition mixes national headliners and promising regional bands, offering a valuable showcase for the local scene in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. In 2025, the fifth edition notably hosted Les Fatals Picards, a cult band on the French scene, alongside regional groups like Ad'Line, The Bradley's, Bonye & Klide, and Kongô Blue.
A Festival Driven by its Volunteers
With around 100 volunteers mobilized for each edition, including many young people from Ronchamp and the surrounding area, ROAFF embodies the associative and community spirit. The festival's budget, which grew from a few thousand euros in 2021 to 62,000 euros in 2025, reflects the event's increasing scale. Attendance follows the same upward trajectory: from 520 spectators at the first edition to over 1,000 in 2023, ROAFF aims to reach 2,000 festival-goers.
Meet, Enjoy, and Share
The ROAFF motto perfectly summarizes its philosophy: "Meet, Enjoy, and Share". On-site, food trucks and a bar complete the festive experience. A carpooling system (Covoitu'ROAFF) and a partnership with a nearby campsite offering free shuttles facilitate access to the site, in an eco-responsible approach that suits this festival rooted in its territory.
