The rock and biker meeting point of the Baie de Somme
The Rock Marin's Festival is the major rock and biker gathering in the Baie de Somme. Every year in September, the Saint-Valery-sur-Somme Canal car park is transformed into a huge festival area of over 10,000 m², welcoming bikers, rockers, and families for three days of concerts, shows, and activities centered around rock and mechanical culture.
Since 2016, the Rock Marin's Festival has set the port of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, a medieval town nestled at the heart of the Baie de Somme, ablaze every September. What began as a modest gathering of rock and vintage mechanics enthusiasts has, over a decade, become one of the key events of the autumn season on the Picardy coast, attracting over 25,000 visitors over three days.
The festival features two music stages on the vast Canal car park, just a stone's throw from the port and the historic center. From Friday evening to Sunday, bands perform one after another, offering an eclectic program mixing rock, rock'n'roll, rockabilly, blues-rock, punk-rock, and metal. The atmosphere builds crescendo until the pyrotechnic show that lights up the bay on Saturday evening, creating a magical moment between sky and sea.
An emblematic attraction of the festival, the Wall of Death (Mur de la Mort) offers a breathtaking spectacle. Inside a dizzying wooden cylinder, motorcyclists defy the laws of gravity, riding horizontally on the vertical walls, under the amazed eyes of the audience leaning over the void. This spectacular stunt is performed four times a day and is one of the highlights of each edition.
Around the stages, a large exhibitor village brings together stands for mechanical parts, tattoo artists, creators of rock clothing and accessories, decorators, and customizers. Lovers of beautiful machines can admire vintage motorcycles and gleaming choppers lined up on the esplanade facing the bay.
The Rock Marin's Festival draws its uniqueness from its location in the heart of a remarkable natural and heritage site. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, with its cobbled streets, medieval ramparts, and picturesque port on the Somme estuary, offers a unique backdrop for a rock festival. Festival-goers can take advantage of breaks between concerts to stroll through the sailors' district of Courtgain, admire the seals in the bay, or savor local specialties in the port's restaurants.
Friendly and accessible, the festival has successfully united a loyal community of enthusiasts while opening up to families and the curious, making this September weekend an unmissable event in the cultural life of the Baie de Somme.
