About Rock This Town

Created in 2007, Rock This Town is the international festival of musical films in Pau. For ten days in the spring, the Le Méliès cinema hosts documentaries, fiction films, shorts and features defined by their relationship to music. Cine-concerts, meetings with directors, record fairs, and a professional day complete a rich program. Member of the MFFN network since 2022.

Rock This Town: Cinema to the Rhythm of Music

Founded in 2007, Rock This Town is the international festival of musical films in Pau. For ten days in the spring, the Le Méliès cinema, an emblematic art-house cinema in Pau, becomes the convergence point between the seventh art and music in all its forms.

A Program at the Crossroads of the Arts

The festival offers a curated selection of films – documentaries, fiction, shorts, and features – defined by their intimate relationship with music. All genres are represented: jazz, classical, rock, reggae, punk, electro, latino, rap, experimental music. The films are presented in competition and out of competition, with a Rock This Town jury awarding the prizes. Several films are presented in French premiere.

Beyond Screenings

Rock This Town is not limited to film screenings. The festival also offers cine-concerts, meetings with directors, record fairs, exhibitions, conferences, and a program for young audiences. A professional day, organized in partnership with CINA (Independent Cinemas of Nouvelle-Aquitaine), allows cinema and music professionals to meet and exchange.

A Networked Festival

Since 2022, Rock This Town has been a member of the MFFN (Music Film Festival Network), an international network whose objectives are to promote emerging artists, defend the distribution of musical works, and facilitate meetings between producers and distributors. Since 2023, the festival has also been part of the collective of cinema and audiovisual festivals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

More Than 20 Cultural Partners

The festival brings together more than 20 cultural partners from the city of Pau, demonstrating its strong local roots and its ability to build bridges between the different cultural players in the Béarnese city. It contributes to Pau's reputation as a city of cinema and musical culture.
