The largest wine tourism event on the Côte des Bar: open cellars, tastings, and conviviality
The Route du Champagne en Fête was born in 1995 from the initiative of the winemakers of the Côte des Bar, in the Aube region. On July 1st and 2nd, 1995, 32 villages and 162 cellars opened their doors to the public for the first time, creating a unique event of its kind. Since then, every summer, the event perpetuates this spirit of sharing by opening the cellars of a different village or sector of the Côte des Bar, based on an annual rotation principle.
The principle is simple and convivial: each visitor purchases a Tasting Passport along with a Champagne flute which gives them access to all open cellars and allows them to benefit from free tastings at each participating estate. A Route Guide guides the journey and provides information on the winemakers, vintages, and terroir. More than 20 cellars are open exclusively for the occasion in about ten villages.
Beyond tastings, the Route du Champagne en Fête offers a full program of entertainment: concerts during the day and DJ sets in the evening, immersive exhibitions on the UNESCO Champagne heritage, a small train to connect the villages, catering with local products, and a champagne bar. The vineyards of the Côte des Bar, classified as UNESCO World Heritage, provide an exceptional setting for this event.
The Route du Champagne en Fête attracts between 25,000 and 40,000 visitors each year, making it one of the largest wine tourism events in France. The Cap'C association, made up of passionate volunteers, organizes the event with the support of winemakers, municipalities, and tourist offices of the Côte des Bar. The 2025 edition, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the event, took place in Les Riceys on July 26th and 27th.
The 31st Route du Champagne en Fête will be held on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, in the Aube Valley, right bank, around Bar-sur-Aube (Côte des Bar). Ten villages welcome visitors and 22 winegrowers' cellars open their doors for a weekend of tastings and conviviality.
