About Ruffectival
Ruffectival is the International Festival of Humor and Dreams held annually on the third weekend of January at La Canopée, Ruffec's performance hall, in Charente. Created in 2006, this festival offers a grand cabaret show mixing magic, acrobatics, contortion, balancing, juggling, clowning, world music, ventriloquism, and mime, in the spirit of Patrick Sébastien's "Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde". An international cabaret in the heart of winter
Ruffectival, the International Festival of Humor and Dreams, is held annually on the third weekend of January at La Canopée, Ruffec's performance hall, in the north of Charente. Created in 2006 by the Ruffectival association, this festival has become an unmissable winter event, offering cabaret shows featuring international artists in a festive and warm atmosphere.
Magic, acrobatics, and circus arts
Each edition features a grand show of about three hours, presenting eight varied acts: magic, contortion, balancing, acrobatics, juggling, clowning, world music, ventriloquism, and mime. The format is inspired by Patrick Sébastien's famous "Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde", with artists from France and abroad performing on the La Canopée stage to deliver a total show, blending humor, poetry, and technical prowess.
La Canopée, the festival's jewel box
La Canopée, located at Place du Jumelage in Ruffec, is a modern cultural venue offering excellent acoustics and visibility for live performances. The hall hosts the festival for three performances: Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon, allowing a wide audience to enjoy this unique cultural event in Charente.
20 years of shows
In 2025, Ruffectival celebrated its 20th edition, confirming the longevity and success of this festival which has built a loyal and enthusiastic audience in Charente and beyond. The Ruffectival association, supported by the Communauté de Communes Val de Charente, continues its mission to promote circus arts and humor in the heart of the Charente countryside.
