The festival of the Charente agricultural world

La Fête de la Terre is an annual event organized by the Jeunes Agriculteurs de Charente (Young Farmers of Charente) to celebrate the agricultural world and its professions. Held in Villefagnan, a rural commune in Nord-Charente, this festival brings together farmers, families, and the curious every summer for various activities combining tradition, competition, and conviviality. The event is an opportunity to highlight local agricultural know-how and create a link between the farming world and the general public.

Plowing contests and agricultural demonstrations

The highlight of the Fête de la Terre is the plowing contest, first cantonal and then departmental, which brings together the best plowmen in Charente. Participants compete in an exercise of precision and technical mastery, under the eyes of a passionate audience. In parallel, demonstrations of modern agricultural machinery allow visitors to discover innovations in the sector, while tractor mower races add a fun and spectacular touch to the day.

Activities for the whole family

The Fête de la Terre offers a rich program of family activities: an educational farm for children, a mechanical bull, inflatable structures, pony rides, and partner stands. Saturday culminates with a festive meal followed by a DJ night and a fireworks display, while Sunday is dedicated to the departmental plowing contest accompanied by country meals and continuous entertainment.

The Jeunes Agriculteurs de Charente are in charge of the Fête de la Terre, mobilizing volunteers and partners to organize a unifying event. This festival is an opportunity for the JA to communicate about the realities of the farming profession, promote local products, and strengthen ties between the agricultural world and the population. The event benefits from the support of the Chambre d'Agriculture de Charente (Charente Chamber of Agriculture) and numerous partners in the sector.
