Métiers d'Art Alençon — edition 2026

The 20th edition of the Métiers d'Art, Métiers Passion fair takes place from Friday, September 25th to Sunday, September 27th, 2026, at the Halle au Blé in Alençon. Over three days, 43 exhibitors—including jewelers, embroiderers, ceramicists, milliners, cabinetmakers, leatherworkers, marquetry artists, glassmakers, and upholsterers—will be demonstrating their craft live to the public. To mark the anniversary, a retrospective will trace the history of the fair, and a collaborative mural will showcase the materials, techniques, and trades represented. Admission is free.

A 20th Anniversary Edition

The Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat Normandie is hosting the 20th edition of the fair from Friday, September 25th to Sunday, September 27th, 2026, at the Halle au Blé in Alençon, in partnership with the City of Alençon, the Normandy Region, the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie Portes de Normandie, Crédit Mutuel, and Groupama. A retrospective will look back at the fair's history, while a collaborative mural will illustrate the diversity of materials, techniques, and crafts on display.

What visitors can expect

The 43 exhibitors will be set up in two areas of the Halle au Blé: the crown and the glass-roofed area. Each stand is designed to recreate an authentic workshop atmosphere, where artisans display their tools and perform live demonstrations of their craft. The selection committee chooses participants based on the quality, technical skill, originality, and diversity of their work, as well as their ability to engage the public through demonstrations, explanations, or mini-talks.

Sales are conducted directly between the exhibitor and the visitor. Resale of any kind is strictly prohibited: all items presented must be exclusively designed and crafted by the exhibiting companies. "Jeune Pousse" (Young Shoot) stands are reserved for businesses registered for less than three years that are participating for the first time.

The fair welcomed over 3,500 visitors in 2025. School groups will be hosted on Friday, September 25th, a day when the fair remains open to the general public.

Métiers d'Art Métiers Passion: A showcase for fine crafts in Normandy

Since 2007, the Salon Métiers d'Art Métiers Passion has been the annual highlight for fine crafts in the Orne region. Organized by the Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat (CMA) de Normandie at the Halle au Blé in Alençon, this fair showcases the expertise and creativity of fine craft professionals.

Around 40 exceptional artisans

Each edition brings together about 40 fine craft artisans from Normandy and beyond, representing a wide variety of trades:

Textile and fiber arts

The fair hosts embroiderers, notably keeping the tradition of Point d'Alençon lace (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage) alive, as well as upholsterers, dressmakers, and textile designers, reflecting the richness of the Orne textile heritage.

Metal and stone crafts

Cutlers, jewelers, art blacksmiths, and other metalworkers present unique pieces that blend tradition with contemporary design. Each artisan recreates the atmosphere of their workshop at their stand, offering visitors a unique glimpse into their daily work.

Wood and clay crafts

Wood turners, cabinetmakers, ceramicists, potters, and sculptors demonstrate their mastery of noble and natural materials, creating art objects and everyday items of remarkable quality.

A lively and accessible fair

Admission is free, staying true to the fair's mission of making fine crafts accessible to as many people as possible. The artisans do more than just exhibit: they demonstrate their skills live, chat with visitors, and share their passion. About 3,500 visitors attend each year.

A commitment to passing on skills

School groups and young people exploring career options are welcomed at the fair, especially on Friday: exhibitors explain their trade and answer their questions. Fine craft training institutions also have stands. This educational dimension is a core part of the CMA Normandie's mission.
