Séquence Danse Paris: Contemporary Dance at CENTQUATRE
Every spring, CENTQUATRE-PARIS dedicates a highlight to contemporary dance with Séquence Danse Paris. Since its creation in 2013, the festival has established itself as a major event on the Parisian choreographic scene, offering an exceptional showcase for contemporary creation in one of the capital's most innovative cultural venues.
An Excellent Program
Each edition presents about fifteen shows that explore all facets of contemporary dance. The program mixes group pieces and solos, duets, and exceptional showcases, in a constant dialogue between generations and aesthetics. The festival gives pride of place to intergenerational encounters, bringing together established choreographers and emerging artists in the same season.
World-Renowned Choreographers
Throughout its editions, Séquence Danse Paris has hosted the biggest names in contemporary choreography: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Jean-Claude Gallotta, Alain Platel, François Chaignaud, Leïla Ka, Radhouane El Meddeb, Christos Papadopoulos, Anne Nguyen, and many others. The festival also offers an important place to off-site performances, taking dance out of the conventional stage space.
CENTQUATRE-PARIS: A Unique Venue for Dance
Located in the former funeral services of the City of Paris, CENTQUATRE-PARIS is an artistic institution of the City of Paris directed by José-Manuel Gonçalvès. With its vast modular spaces, its artist residency workshops, and its commitment to contemporary creation, CENTQUATRE offers an ideal setting for dance, allowing for varied staging configurations and a unique proximity between artists and the public.
