Electronic music and ski festival in Avoriaz
Snowboxx is an international electronic music festival that transforms the resort of Avoriaz into a huge high-altitude dancefloor every March. Launched in 2013, this unique event combines skiing and partying for a whole week, with open-air stages facing the peaks, igloo raves, on-piste brunches, and secret sets nestled in the snow. Located at an altitude of 1,800 meters in the highest pedestrian resort in the Portes du Soleil, Snowboxx attracts thousands of party-goers from around the world each year to experience a blend of house, drum and bass, techno, and disco with the pleasures of skiing.
Since 2013, Snowboxx has established itself as one of Europe's most iconic mountain music festivals. Initially launched in Andorra, the festival quickly found its ideal setting in Avoriaz, a pedestrian resort perched at 1,800 meters altitude in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Europe's largest cross-border ski area with 650 km of slopes.
The Snowboxx concept is based on an immersive, full-week formula combining skiing, snowboarding, and electronic music. The festival features several stages with distinct atmospheres: the open-air Main Stage with panoramic views of the Alps, the Folie Douce for wild après-ski, The Boxx indoors for nightly sets, The Stag for afterhours, downtown clubs, and secret mountain sets for the more adventurous.
Over the years, Snowboxx has hosted major international electronic music artists: Fatboy Slim, Rudimental, Annie Mac, Andy C, Shy FX, Joel Corry, Sam Divine, Becky Hill, Sub Focus, Sigala, Artful Dodger, and The Sugarhill Gang have all set the Avoriaz slopes ablaze.
Snowboxx's popularity continues to grow, with the festival selling out every year. Tickets, which include accommodation and ski passes, are offered as packages ranging from 3-star apartments to luxury chalets. A pre-sale system with a deposit and staggered payments makes the experience accessible to a wide international audience, primarily British, Irish, and Northern European.
The resort of Avoriaz, entirely pedestrian and car-free, offers a unique setting for a festival of this scale. Its iconic brutalist architecture, vertiginous cliffs, and exceptional snow cover make it a perfect playground for a week where partying and skiing become one.
