Free urban beach in Toulouse, from July 20 to August 23, 2026
Toulouse Plages has been the flagship summer event of the City of Toulouse since 2003. For five weeks, the Prairie des Filtres, the banks of the Garonne, and several other city sites (Port Viguerie, La Ramée in Tournefeuille, Lac de la Reynerie) are transformed into a vast free playground, combining sports, relaxation, culture, and water activities for the whole family.
Organized by the City Council of Toulouse in partnership with numerous local associations, the event welcomes several hundred thousand visitors each year (over 410,000 in 2024). All activities offered are entirely free.
For over twenty years, Toulouse Plages has become an unmissable summer event in Toulouse and Haute-Garonne. Launched in 2003 by the City of Toulouse, the event transforms the Prairie des Filtres, on the banks of the Garonne, into a temporary urban beach open to all for free every summer.
The setup extends across several emblematic locations in the Toulouse metropolitan area:
Toulouse Plages stands out for the richness and diversity of its offerings, all accessible for free: team sports (beach volleyball, 3x3 basketball, football, handball, rugby), water sports (canoeing, rowing, paddleboarding), well-being activities (yoga, tai-chi, pilates, sophrology), children's games and inflatable structures, creative workshops, reading area and game lending (Ludoplage), dance initiations, climbing wall, orientation course, and many other activities renewed each summer.
For several editions, Toulouse Plages has offered adapted sports activities supervised by specialized educators. The event is recognized as "Accessible to all" and ensures inclusive facilities and programming for people with disabilities.
With hundreds of thousands of visitors each summer, Toulouse Plages stands as one of France's largest free urban leisure spaces during the summer period. Deckchairs, parasols, misters, and sports equipment are provided free of charge by the City. The event fully contributes to the summer attractiveness of Toulouse and the Occitanie region.
The 2026 edition of Toulouse Plages will take place from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, offering five weeks of free activities in the heart of Toulouse. La Prairie des Filtres, Port Viguerie, La Ramée, and Lac de la Reynerie will host sports, relaxation, culture, and water activities for the whole family.
