On the tracks of the Beast of Gévaudan in Margeride
The Trail de la Margeride takes place in the Monts de la Margeride, a granite massif located in Gévaudan, in the heart of a Natura 2000 zone. The courses wind between 900 and 1500 meters in altitude through wild and preserved landscapes of moors, forests, and peat bogs, in the historic territory of the Beast of Gévaudan.
The event offers several formats adapted to all levels:
A non-competitive children's race is organized on Saturday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for 5-11 year olds, allowing the youngest to join the celebration.
The Trail de la Margeride is an event mindful of the environment, driven by values of respect for nature and the territory. The courses are designed to minimize the impact on the sensitive natural environments of Margeride. The organization combines sporting, cultural, and economic dimensions for local development.
In addition to the annual event, the area offers a network of permanent Trail Areas with 7 marked routes from 8 to 40 km, accessible all year round to discover Margeride by running. Collective training trail mornings are also organized during the summer.
The Trail de la Margeride returns on September 12th and 13th, 2026 in Le Malzieu-Ville. Registrations open in May 2026. A training camp is offered from May 8th to 10th, 2026, to prepare in the best conditions.
Le Malzieu-Ville is located in the north of Lozère, in the heart of Margeride.
Registration is open online on the official website and on the Finishers platform. Registration opens in May for the following edition.
A preparation camp is offered in May, a few months before the race.
