Trajectoires: The Exploratory Dance in Nantes
Born in 2018 under the impetus of Ambra Senatore, director of the Centre Chorégraphique National de Nantes (CCNN), the Trajectoires festival has quickly established itself as a highlight of contemporary dance in the West of France. Every year in January, the festival sets the city in motion by offering a choreographic journey through the stages, museums, streets, and squares of the Nantes metropolitan area.
A Program Open to the World
Trajectoires stands out for the diversity of its programming. Each edition brings together internationally renowned choreographers and emerging artists, exploring all forms of dance: contemporary, experimental, performative, inclusive. Creations from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe mingle with proposals from local artists, offering a rich and committed panorama of current choreographic creation.
A Multi-Site Festival Rooted in the Territory
The festival radiates far beyond Nantes, investing about twenty partner venues: the CCNN (Studio Jacques Garnier), Le Lieu Unique (national stage), Théâtre ONYX in Saint-Herblain, TU-Nantes, La Soufflerie in Rezé, Stereolux, Théâtre Francine Vasse — Les Laboratoires Vivants, Pannonica, Théâtre Ligéria in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, Le Théâtre (national stage of Saint-Nazaire), BRAVOH! in Clisson, and many others. This territorial presence allows it to reach diverse audiences and bring dance to life in very different contexts.
From Memory to Transformation
Since its inception, Trajectoires has explored the links between dance and society. From ritual to experimentation, from the intimate to the collective, the festival invites us to experience our connections, tensions, and life impulses through the danced gesture. Successive editions have hosted major artists such as Lia Rodrigues, Boris Charmatz, Mathilde Monnier, Noé Soulier, Christian Rizzo, Phia Ménard, Eun-Me Ahn, Salia Sanou, and Ambra Senatore herself.
An Accessible and Committed Festival
Trajectoires is committed to making contemporary dance accessible to the greatest number, including those who know nothing about it. With varied prices depending on the partner venues, offerings for young audiences, workshops, conferences, and meetings with artists, the festival offers multiple entry points into the world of dance.
