The ultra-trail crossing France and Switzerland in the heart of the Jura
The UTMJ (Ultra Trail des Montagnes du Jura) is a trail and ultra-trail event created in 2020 by Espace Ô, with an arrival in Métabief in the Haut-Doubs. The flagship race — 175 km and 7,000 m of positive elevation gain — crosses two countries (France and Switzerland), two regions, and three departments (Ain, Jura, Doubs). The event offers six race formats adapted to all levels, from the 10 km family race to the ultra-trail. With over 3,000 participants, the UTMJ has quickly established itself as one of the reference ultra-trails in France.
Created in 2020 by Espace Ô, the Ultra Trail des Montagnes du Jura (UTMJ) has quickly become a benchmark event in the world of trail running in France. The finish line is in Métabief, in the Haut-Doubs, at the foot of Mont Morond.
The flagship UTMJ race is an ultra-trail of 175 km with 7,000 meters of positive elevation gain, connecting Lancrans (Ain) to Métabief (Doubs). The course crosses:
Runners navigate through the spectacular landscapes of the Jura massif: ridges, spruce forests, high-altitude pastures, lakes, valleys, and panoramas of the Alps and Mont-Blanc.

The finish village in Métabief is a place of celebration and conviviality where families, companions, and supporters cheer on the finishers. Entertainment, food, and music accompany the arrivals throughout the weekend.
