The great artisan and flea market of Serein et Armance
Each year, on the last Sunday of June, the village of Villiers-Vineux, nestled in the Serein and Armance region in the heart of the Yonne, transforms into a vast festive and commercial space. The Artisan and Flea Market takes over Rue Gaulard and the adjacent streets from dawn for a full day of discoveries and encounters.
The event brings together two complementary worlds: on one hand, local artisans who exhibit and sell their creations — pottery, basketry, jewelry, turned wood, textiles, artisanal soaps — and on the other, treasure hunters and second-hand dealers offering antique furniture, tableware, books, and unusual items. This balance between contemporary creation and material heritage makes it a popular fair for enthusiasts and the simply curious alike.
Villiers-Vineux (89360), a commune belonging to the Serein et Armance Community of Communes, offers a green and peaceful setting for this village celebration. The local architectural heritage — including the church and the beautiful blonde stone Burgundian farmhouses — serves as a natural backdrop for a day where social connection, exchange, and conviviality are paramount.
From six in the morning to six in the evening, exhibitors and visitors of all ages come and go. Families enjoy strolling to find a bargain or admire the craftsmanship of the artisans. Children discover manual trades, elders rediscover everyday objects from the past, and craft enthusiasts fill their baskets with unique handmade pieces.
Organized by volunteers from local associations, the Villiers-Vineux artisan fair perfectly illustrates the dynamism of small rural communities in the Yonne. It helps keep traditional know-how alive and promotes short supply chains by connecting local producers, artisans, and consumers. Its free admission makes it a popular and unifying event, open to everyone.
The Serein and Armance region is full of treasures to discover after the fair: the Cistercian abbey of Pontigny, the castle of Tanlay, the Yonne wine cellars, and the hiking trails that crisscross this bocage territory. A stay of a few days allows you to fully enjoy the Burgundian art of living.
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Villiers-Vineux (89360) will host its annual artisan and flea market. From the opening at 6 AM, Rue Gaulard and the adjacent streets will transform into an open-air market, blending contemporary crafts and second-hand treasures.
Come and browse the stalls of local artisans — potters, woodturners, textile designers, jewelers — and second-hand exhibitors offering antique furniture, tableware, books, and unusual items. A great opportunity to support local know-how and find that rare piece in an authentic Burgundian village setting.
The day continues until 6 PM, allowing visitors to take their time exploring the many exhibitors while enjoying the festive and friendly atmosphere that reigns each year during this emblematic summer event of Serein et Armance.
Villiers-Vineux is located in the Yonne department (89), about 20 km north of Tonnerre and 35 km northeast of Auxerre.
