VoixSi VoixLa: The Voice in the Spotlight in Joinville
Born in 2022, the VoixSi VoixLa festival is an annual event dedicated to vocal practice in the town of Joinville, in the heart of Haute-Marne. Supported by the Vall'Art association, founded in 2003 to promote choral singing in rural areas, this festival offers an original journey over three days, combining concerts, open stages, and participatory workshops in several emblematic locations of the town.
A Festival Born from a Choral Passion
The Vall'Art association has been working since 2003 to make choral singing accessible to everyone in a rural territory. It runs a children's and teenagers' choir directed by Catherine Millot, organizes singing workshops open to all levels, and musical weekends. The VoixSi VoixLa festival is the natural culmination of this commitment: a unifying event that brings together professionals and amateurs around the voice.
Heritage Sites as a Backdrop
The festival's concerts and workshops take place in several remarkable locations in Joinville: the Salle des fêtes Raymond Hanin, the Church of Joinville, the Espace Marcand, the Auditoire, and the Château du Grand-Jardin. This musical itinerary through the town allows visitors to discover Joinville's heritage while enjoying the performances.
A Rich and Varied Program
Each edition of the festival is structured around three pillars:
- Concerts: On Friday evening, a free opening concert showcases the young choristers of Vall'Art and students from local schools. On Saturday and Sunday, professional vocal ensembles offer performances in various styles: a cappella, polyphony, French chanson, contemporary or traditional repertoire.
- Open Stages: Choirs from Haute-Marne and neighboring departments are invited to perform and present part of their repertoire. A moment of sharing and meeting between amateur choirs.
- Participatory Workshops: Led by guest artists, they allow all audiences to learn vocal technique, improvisation, choir conducting, or collective creation.
An Event Supported by the Region
The festival benefits from the support of the City of Joinville, the Department of Haute-Marne, the Arts Vivants 52 network, and local businesses. It is part of a dynamic of cultural enhancement of the northern Haute-Marne territory.
