African encounters in the heart of Ardèche
Afrikabidon is a unique festival, born from the desire to showcase the richness and diversity of African culture in the enchanting setting of southern Ardèche. Created in 2007 by the association Point Afrique, the festival was held at the Aven Marzal tourist site in Saint-Remèze, a place steeped in history and mystery in the heart of the Gras plateau.
The festival offered an ambitious program spanning nearly a month, from mid-July to mid-August:
Afrikabidon was distinguished by its humanistic and solidarity dimension. Beyond the cultural program, the festival carried a message of encounter, exchange, and mutual understanding between peoples. The "crossed perspectives" conferences brought together intellectuals, artists, and political figures to discuss the challenges facing the African continent.
From its very first edition in 2007, the festival attracted nearly 22,000 visitors, demonstrating the public's enthusiasm for this original initiative. The Aven Marzal site, with its prehistoric caves and zoo, offered a spectacular setting to host this extraordinary event.
The festival took place at the Aven Marzal site, route de Bidon, in Saint-Remèze (07700).
This festival is no longer organized.
