Access and transport
The Centre Prouvé (Nancy Convention Centre) is ideally located at 1 Place de la République, 54000 Nancy, directly opposite Nancy train station. It is one of the best-served locations in the city.
- By train: Nancy-Ville station is a 2-minute walk away. TGV Paris-Nancy in 1h30, TER Metz-Nancy in 40 minutes, TER Strasbourg-Nancy in 1h20. The Centre Prouvé is visible upon exiting the station.
- By tram: Line 1, stop « Gare - Centre Prouvé » right in front of the building entrance.
- By car: SNCF station car parks and the underground car park at Place de la République. From the A31, take the Nancy Centre exit and follow the « Gare SNCF » signs. Warning: parking can be saturated on the convention weekend.
- By bus: Numerous lines from the Stan network converge at the station and the Centre Prouvé.
Dates and times
The convention takes place on a weekend in November, usually the 2nd or 3rd weekend of the month, on Saturday and Sunday. Doors generally open at 10 am and close at 7 pm. Queues can be significant on Saturday mornings: it is advisable to arrive early or enjoy Sunday, which is less crowded.
Ticketing and prices
Advance tickets are available on the official website animest.net, in partner shops in Nancy, and via the Pass Culture. Advance sales open several weeks before the event and offer a reduced price compared to on-site purchase on the day. On-site prices are slightly higher. It is strongly recommended to buy tickets in advance, as some editions sell out.
Food and drink
Japanese street food stalls are set up within the Centre Prouvé: ramen, onigiri, takoyaki, mochi, and other Japanese specialties. More classic food (sandwiches, crepes, drinks) is also available. Cafes and restaurants are accessible in the immediate vicinity, particularly around the station and Rue Saint-Jean.
Practical tips
Cosplay is highly encouraged! Cloakrooms are available for cosplayers. Bring cash for some independent artist stalls. A cloakroom service allows you to leave bags and bulky purchases during your visit. Children are welcome and many activities are dedicated to them.

The largest Japanese convention in the Grand Est
Since 2003, Anim'Est has become the unmissable event for Japanese culture enthusiasts in the Grand Est region of France. Organized annually in November at the Centre Prouvé in Nancy, this convention brings together thousands of visitors for a rich and eclectic program celebrating all facets of Japanese pop culture.
A rich program
Over two days, Anim'Est offers an immersive universe dedicated to Japanese culture in all its forms:
- Manga and anime: specialty shops, publishers, independent artists, signing sessions
- Cosplay: stage cosplay competition, costume parade, photo area
- Video games: tournaments, arcade machines, retro gaming and current gaming area
- Martial arts: demonstrations of kendo, aïkido, judo, and other disciplines
- Japanese gastronomy: Japanese street food stalls, tea and sake tastings
- Traditional culture: calligraphy, origami, ikebana workshops, tea ceremony
Three performance stages
Anim'Est features three stages hosting a variety of events continuously: Japanese music concerts, thematic conferences, meetings with guests of honor, cosplay demonstrations, screenings, and shows. The cosplay competition is one of the highlights of the convention, bringing together cosplayers from all over France.
A unique exhibition space
Over a hundred exhibitors take over the Centre Prouvé: independent artists offering illustrations and fan art, fashion and accessory designers inspired by Japan, specialty shops for manga and figurines, Japanese cultural associations, and gaming booths. A true village dedicated to the passion for Japan.
Participatory workshops
The convention offers numerous participatory workshops for all ages: manga drawing initiation, cosplay workshop, Japanese calligraphy, traditional games, shiatsu, and many other activities to immerse yourself in Japanese culture.
An event driven by students
Anim'Est is driven by passionate students, particularly from the University of Lorraine and TELECOM Nancy, who volunteer to organize this major convention. The Consulate of Japan also provides support with specific events.
