A Journey to the Heart of the 13th Century

Biot et les Templiers has, in just a few editions, become one of the largest medieval events in France and the biggest on the French Riviera. Every spring, the village of Biot (Alpes-Maritimes) transforms into a medieval city in the time of the Templars, offering visitors a total immersion into the world of the 13th century.

The Village of Biot, Land of the Templars

The choice of Biot is no accident: the village has an authentic historical connection with the Order of the Templars. The old castle of Biot, located between Place des Arcades and Place de l'Église, housed a Templar commandery. It is around this heritage that the event is structured, transforming the village's alleys, squares, and gardens into a vast historical reenactment site.

A Spectacular Program

For three days, over 500 knights, troubadours, and artisans from 14 European countries take over the village. The program includes medieval camp reenactments, equestrian tournaments, knight battles, falconry shows, medieval craft workshops (blacksmithing, pottery, stone carving, illumination), medieval music, and activities for the whole family. The 2025 edition, themed 'The Art of Chivalry,' introduced four significant new features and set a record with 110,000 visitors.

A Free and Family-Friendly Event

One of the strengths of Biot et les Templiers is its complete freeness. Supported by the City of Biot, the event is accessible to everyone, with no tickets to buy. Families can enjoy dedicated activity zones for children, with participatory workshops, archery introductions, puppet shows, and medieval storytelling.

A Recent History but Rapid Growth

After an initial period in 2014, the event was relaunched in 2023 by the City of Biot with renewed ambition. The 2023 and 2024 editions brought together over 200,000 visitors in total, confirming the success of this relaunch. The 2026 edition, taking place from April 10th to 12th, will be an exceptional anniversary edition to celebrate the event's 10th anniversary.
