Boom Boom Bay Festival: Electronic Fever on Sion Beach

In Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, on the Vendée Atlantic coast, the Grande Plage de Sion transforms each September into an ephemeral open-air dance floor. The Boom Boom Bay Festival, organized by La Pause Plage, is a unique celebration: three days of live DJ sets with your feet in the sand, facing the vast Atlantic Ocean, completely free of charge.

Three Days of Beats Facing the Atlantic

The festival unfolds over an entire weekend, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, with a carefully curated program to accompany each moment of the day. On Friday evening, a DJ opens the festivities with a house and techno set that builds in intensity as the sun dips below the horizon. Saturday, the main day of the event, features three DJs performing from the afternoon until dusk, playing disco, funk, and groovy sets. On Sunday, an eclectic collective provides a final mid-day set, mixing funk, disco, house, and rock for a festive and relaxed closing.

An Unforgettable End-of-Season Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Boom Boom Bay is that of an XXL beach party, both sophisticated and relaxed. Festival-goers dance barefoot in the sand, cocktail in hand, as the bass resonates along the Vendée coastline. The sunset over the Atlantic is the magical moment of each evening, when the golden light envelops the beach and the rhythms intensify. Beach games, a cocktail bar, and food options—including La Pause Plage's famous gourmet burgers—complete the experience.

DJs from the Nantes and Paris Scene

The Boom Boom Bay lineup showcases electronic artists from Western France and the capital. Performers like VEGA, a Parisian DJ and producer specializing in house and techno, share the stage with collectives from Nantes such as Karim Karim, Flowfit, Philx, and Escalator, an eclectic collective that boldly mixes funk, disco, house, and rock. This diversity of styles reflects the festival's DNA: offering a soundtrack that evolves with the hours and moods, from afternoon chill to nighttime dancefloor energy.

Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and Sion-sur-l'Océan

The Grande Plage de Sion, a former seaside village now part of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, is one of the most iconic beaches on the Vendée coast. Its stretch of fine sand, schist cliffs, legendary sunsets, and the ambiance of a "Côte de Lumière" resort make it an ideal setting for a beach festival. Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, a town of over 12,000 inhabitants, offers significant tourist accommodation capacity with its numerous campsites, residences, and seasonal rentals, facilitating the reception of festival-goers.

The Boom Boom Bay Festival is part of the cultural and festive dynamic of a booming Vendée region, where end-of-season music events extend the summer and build loyalty among vacationers charmed by the Atlantic lifestyle.
