The swing gathering in the heart of the Bresse region
The Bresse Swing Festival is a swing dance weekend held every March in Péronnas, near Bourg-en-Bresse, organised by the Fred Danse Académie. Over three days, passionate instructors offer classes in Lindy Hop, Jazz Roots, Boogie-Woogie, tap dance, Fast Lindy, West Coast Swing and Balboa for all levels. Two dance parties — with DJ and live band — complete this festive and convivial programme dedicated to sharing and connecting through swing dances.
Born in 2023 from the passion of Frédéric Fayard, founder of the Fred Danse Académie, the Bresse Swing Festival has become in just a few editions the must-attend gathering for swing dance enthusiasts in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Located in Péronnas, on the doorstep of Bourg-en-Bresse, this intimate festival focuses on conviviality, sharing and teaching quality to offer an exceptional weekend for dancers of all levels.
The festival offers a packed programme built around intensive classes taught by renowned instructors. Participants can learn or perfect their skills in several disciplines:
Each edition invites renowned instructors to share their expertise and love of swing. Among the regular teachers are Thomas Blacharz and Lisa Donnard for Lindy Hop, Olivier Potherat for Boogie-Woogie and tap dance, as well as dance couples specialising in West Coast Swing and Balboa. Teaching is tailored to all levels, from complete beginners to advanced dancers.
The daytime classes give way to two dance parties that are the beating heart of the festival:

Designed as a moment of sharing and exchange, the festival encourages encounters between dancers from all backgrounds. The Fred Danse Académie, a dance school established in Péronnas for several years, puts all its expertise at the service of this event, which contributes to the influence of swing culture in the Ain and beyond.

The Bresse Swing Festival returns for its 4th edition from 20 to 22 March 2026 at the Fred Danse Académie in Péronnas. This year the festival welcomes instructors Thomas Blacharz, Lisa Donnard, Olivier Potherat, Charlotte and Jean, and Alexandra and Byron for Lindy Hop, Jazz Roots, Boogie-Woogie, tap dance, Fast Lindy, West Coast Swing and Balboa classes.
Two dance parties are on the programme: a DJ night on Friday and a Bresse Bounce Quintet concert on Saturday evening. Early bird rates are available until 31 January 2026.
The Bresse Swing Festival takes place at the Fred Danse Académie, 150 impasse Claude Berthollet, 01960 Péronnas, immediately adjacent to Bourg-en-Bresse.
Friday: dance party from 8:30pm. Saturday and Sunday: classes from 10am to 6pm. Saturday evening from 9pm.
