The meeting point for youth literature in the Risle Valley
The Brionne Youth Book Fair brings together authors, illustrators, publishers, and young readers every year in the Salle des Fêtes of this charming Norman town in the Risle Valley. Dedicated to youth literature, the fair offers signing sessions, writing and illustration workshops, read-alouds, shows, and meetings with creators. This free event, open to all, helps to awaken a taste for reading in the youngest while promoting contemporary literary creation in the Eure region.
The Brionne Youth Book Fair was born from the desire to promote reading and literature among young audiences in the Eure department. Organized at the Salle des Fêtes in Brionne, this fair hosts around thirty authors and illustrators who come to meet their readers for signing sessions, exchanges, and moments of sharing around books.
The fair brings together renowned youth literature authors and emerging talents. Illustrated albums, novels for teenagers, comic books, tales, and non-fiction books are represented in a diversity of genres and styles. Visitors can meet the creators, get their favorite books signed, and discover new releases in youth publishing. These privileged encounters between authors and readers form the vibrant heart of the fair.
The Brionne Youth Book Fair is not limited to book signings. A rich program of creative workshops is offered to children and families: writing, illustration, book making, calligraphy, and comic book creation workshops. These workshops, led by book professionals, allow children to be introduced to the crafts of literary creation and to develop their imagination.
Read-aloud sessions and shows inspired by youth literature works punctuate the fair's program. Storytellers, actors, and musicians bring stories and characters to life, offering young spectators an immersive and sensory experience of books. Round tables and conferences for parents, teachers, and librarians complete the program with discussions on reading, education, and literary creation.
The fair gives a special place to school groups from the area. In the lead-up to the event, educational projects are carried out in schools in Brionne and its surroundings: classroom readings, correspondence with invited authors, writing workshops, and the creation of collective works. On the day of the fair, students meet the authors they have read and studied, creating a living and concrete link with literature. Over a thousand schoolchildren participate in these educational activities each year.
Brionne, a small town in the Risle Valley dominated by the ruins of its medieval keep, offers an authentic and welcoming setting for this fair. The town, rich in its history and associative dynamism, is committed to promoting culture and reading for all. The Youth Book Fair is part of this initiative and contributes to Brionne's cultural influence in the Norman literary landscape.
The 5th edition of the Brionne Youth Book Fair will be held in late November 2026 at the Salle des Fêtes, featuring around thirty authors, creative workshops, readings, and shows for young readers.
