The Carnaval de Champagnole: thirty years of festive tradition

For over thirty years, the Carnaval de Champagnole has enlivened the streets of this Jura town every spring. This unifying event mobilizes the commune's sports, cultural, and charitable associations, schools, leisure centers, and numerous volunteers who spend weeks preparing floats and costumes around the chosen theme for the year.

A colorful parade

The procession traditionally starts from the Oppidum, Champagnole's cultural center, in the early afternoon. Dozens of decorated floats cross the town's streets, accompanied by brass bands that set the rhythm for the procession. Participants, young and old, parade in costumes, and confetti flies in the spring air. The public gathers along the route to admire the creations of the different groups.

Varied and creative themes

Each edition of the carnival is centered around a unifying theme chosen from proposals by local associations. In 2025, the theme was “Time Passing”, and for 2026, the chosen theme is “The Z'animos”. These themes stimulate the creativity of participants and ensure the festival's renewal year after year.

A moment of conviviality for all

The Carnaval de Champagnole is more than just a parade. It is a moment of conviviality and sharing that brings the entire community together. Associations take advantage of the event to raise awareness and offer entertainment and catering. The day often extends into the evening with concerts and popular dances.

The commitment of associations

The carnival is the result of the collective commitment of local associations, volunteers, and municipal services. School and extracurricular groups actively participate in preparing floats and costumes, making the carnival a true educational and civic project.

Carnaval Champagnole — edition 2026

The Carnaval de Champagnole returns on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with the theme “The Z'animos”. Parade starts at 2:30 PM in front of the Oppidum. Floats, brass bands, costumes, and confetti will liven up the town's streets.
