The great tropical parade of Paris on the Champs-Élysées
The Carnaval Tropical de Paris was born in 2001, driven by the Fédération du Carnaval Tropical de Paris and supported by the City of Paris. The founding idea: to offer the French capital a grand tropical parade celebrating the richness of overseas cultures and the diasporas of the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. In a quarter of a century, Carnaval Tropical has become one of the major festive events of the Parisian summer, a symbol of cultural diversity and joie de vivre.
The parade takes place on the Champs-Élysées, from the Rond-Point des Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. More than four thousand dancers and musicians, accompanied by about ten monumental floats, march up the most beautiful avenue in the world in a colorful procession. The troupes represent the carnival traditions of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion Island, Brazil, Colombia, Cape Verde, and many other countries, mixing zouk, samba, compas, salsa, gwoka, and traditional percussion.
The 25th edition of Carnaval Tropical de Paris took place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, on the Champs-Élysées, with the theme "Amazonia", echoing the France-Brazil Year. More than four thousand dancers and musicians from around the world paraded in spectacular costumes celebrating Amazonian cultures. This jubilee edition marked a quarter-century of tropical traditions on the most beautiful avenue in the world.
The 26th edition of Carnaval Tropical de Paris is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026, on the Champs-Élysées. More than four thousand dancers, musicians, and floats are expected for this new parade celebrating tropical and overseas cultures. The theme and program will be announced in the spring of 2026.
Carnaval Tropical de Paris is an entirely free event, accessible to all. Spectators gather along the Champs-Élysées to enjoy the show, in an atmosphere of celebration and sharing. The event helps to showcase the cultural diversity of France and its overseas territories, while offering a moment of collective joy in the heart of Parisian summer.
