A Free Tropical Parade on the Champs-Élysées

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Carnaval Tropical de Paris takes over the Avenue des Champs-Élysées for its 26th edition. The procession starts at the bottom of the Champs-Élysées, on the Place de la Concorde side, goes up towards George V station, then descends Avenue Winston-Churchill between the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais.

Over 4,000 dancers and musicians, accompanied by about ten floats, showcase the carnival traditions of the West Indies (Guadeloupe, Martinique), Réunion, Guyana, as well as Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Haiti, and many other countries. Each troupe parades down the avenue with its costumes, choreographies, and traditional rhythms, from gwoka to samba, including bèlè and Guyanese drums.

Organized by the Ville de Paris in collaboration with the Fédération du Carnaval Tropical de Paris, the event, launched in 2001, attracts nearly 200,000 spectators along the route each year.

The theme and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced soon on the Ville de Paris website.

The capital's tropical parade since 2001

The Carnaval Tropical de Paris was born in 2001, driven by the Fédération du Carnaval Tropical de Paris and supported by the City of Paris. The founding idea: to offer the French capital a grand tropical parade celebrating the richness of overseas cultures and the diasporas of the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. In a quarter of a century, Carnaval Tropical has become one of the major festive events of the Parisian summer, a symbol of cultural diversity and joie de vivre.
