The vintage vehicle show of Châteauvillain
Since its creation in 2010, Castel Rétro has established itself as one of the most renowned vintage vehicle shows in Eastern France. Organized by the Castel Rétro association, the event annually takes over the exceptional setting of the Parc aux Daims in Châteauvillain, a 272-hectare enclosed forest estate created in 1655 by François-Marie, son of the Duke of Vitry and lord of Châteauvillain. This historic park, populated by stags and deer, offers a unique natural backdrop for this celebration of automotive and mechanical heritage.
Each edition, the show brings together several hundred vintage vehicles exhibited along the shaded paths of the park. You can admire cars from before 1981, motorcycles from before 1976, vintage agricultural tractors, old trucks, and stationary engines. Owners, members of car clubs, and individual collectors come from all over the Grand Est region and neighboring departments to present their passionately restored mechanical treasures.
One of Castel Rétro's highlights is its spare parts exchange fair, which brings together over fifty professional and amateur exhibitors. Bargain hunters can find rare parts, technical documentation, enamel signs, miniature vehicles, vintage accessories, and restoration equipment. On Sundays, a themed flea market complements this offering for vintage find enthusiasts.
On Sunday afternoon, a concours d'élégance rewards the most beautiful vehicles presented at the show. Owners compete with ingenuity to showcase their collector cars and motorcycles. Activities for the whole family are offered throughout the weekend: children's games, mechanical demonstrations, themed exhibitions, and vehicle parades along the park's paths.
A refreshment stand and a catering area allow visitors to eat on-site in a friendly atmosphere. Vintage mechanics enthusiasts share anecdotes and technical advice over a rustic meal, in the warm atmosphere that has made the show's reputation.
Beyond the vehicles, Castel Rétro is also an opportunity to discover the remarkable heritage of Châteauvillain, a Petite Cité de Caractère (Small Town of Character) in Haute-Marne. The medieval town, its ramparts, its picturesque alleys, and its listed deer park provide an ideal setting for this gathering that combines mechanical passion with the discovery of local heritage.
The Castel Rétro show returns for its 17th edition on June 27 and 28, 2026, at the Parc aux Daims in Châteauvillain. The event once again promises an exceptional weekend for all lovers of beautiful vintage mechanics in the unique setting of the 272-hectare historic park.
