Les Automnales de Chaumont
The meeting place for know-how and craftsmanship in the city center
2026
About Les Automnales
Les Automnales is Chaumont's premier urban fair in the Haute-Marne region, held over a weekend in October. Organized by the UCIA (the local union of merchants, manufacturers, and artisans), the event celebrated its ninth edition in 2025. The fair features local artisans, creators, producers, and businesses showcasing their expertise, while city-center shops remain open with special offers. A dedicated children's area is set up in one of the squares. Admission is free.
Les Automnales — edition 2026
The Les Automnales urban fair returns to Chaumont city center on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th, 2026, with free admission. A new feature announced by the UCIA: an Auto Village in the Champ de Mars parking lot, where local Chaumont car dealers will showcase a selection of pre-owned vehicles. The square Boulingrin is reserved for children, and the swing band Jazz Open will be performing in the streets throughout the two days.
2026 Edition
The UCIA has announced that Les Automnales 2026 will take place on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th, in the heart of Chaumont. Local artisans, creators, and businesses will have stands throughout the weekend, and downtown shops will be open with special offers.
What's new this year
The organizers are introducing an Auto Village: local Chaumont car dealers will present a selection of pre-owned vehicles at the Champ de Mars parking lot. This is the main new feature for the 2026 edition.
The square Boulingrin is dedicated to children this year, featuring bouncy castles and games. The Jazz Open band, a fair favorite, will be performing in the streets all weekend long.
The official poster, released online on August 5th, 2026, confirms free admission and highlights five main areas: crafts, local expertise, free entertainment, the children's square, and the auto village. It features the logos of the City of Chaumont, the Chaumont Agglomeration, the CCI Meuse Haute-Marne, the CMA Grand Est, Active Radio, and the Journal de la Haute-Marne.

An urban fair in the heart of Chaumont
Every year, Les Automnales takes over Chaumont's city center for a weekend in October. Stretching from square Philippe Lebon to square Boulingrin, and including place de la Résistance and place de l'Hôtel de Ville, the pedestrian streets and squares host dozens of exhibitors—over 60 in 2025—who come to share their crafts and creations. The event is organized by UCIA Chaumont with support from the City of Chaumont, the Chaumont Agglomeration, and local chambers of commerce. The 2025 edition marked the fair's ninth year.
Local artisans, creators, and merchants
The fair serves primarily as a showcase for local and regional expertise. Visitors can wander between stalls featuring art crafts, jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, fashion, honey, jams, and more. Local shops in the city center open their doors and offer special deals throughout the weekend. Some editions feature a guest of honor: in 2024, it was Belgium, celebrating the town of Oostkamp, which has been twinned with Chaumont since 2004, complete with a Belgian village offering craft beers and works by Flemish artists.
Entertainment
All entertainment is free. Depending on the year, you might find:
- Street performances: musical parades, clowns, magicians, and mentalists roaming the city center
- Concerts: swing, brass bands, and local groups performing on various squares. The band Jazz Open is a regular fixture
- Children's area: bouncy castles in one of the central squares (square Boulingrin in 2026, square Philippe Lebon in 2025), face painting, balloon modeling, and mascots
- Creative workshops: craft demonstrations and introductory sessions
- Relaxation area: nail bar, massage station, and temporary tattoos at place de l'Hôtel de Ville
- Competitions and raffles throughout the weekend
Gastronomy and local flavors
Local producers offer tastings of Haute-Marne specialties, including cheeses, honey, jams, charcuterie, and craft beers. Dining areas are set up in the city center for the duration of the event.
A commercial highlight for the city center
Les Automnales is, above all, a commercial event designed to bring foot traffic to the shopping streets and provide visibility for local artisans and businesses. The City of Chaumont, the Chaumont Agglomeration, and the chambers of commerce all support the initiative.
