Mountain and adventure film festival in the Mont-Blanc valley
The Chamonix Film Festival was born in 2021 from the desire to create a benchmark cinematic event in the world's cradle of alpinism. Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, a town that has witnessed the birth of summit conquests and boasts an exceptional mountain heritage, offers an ideal natural and historical setting for a festival dedicated to mountain and adventure films.
In just a few editions, the festival has established itself as a must-attend event for directors, mountaineers, and lovers of the big screen. The rigorous selection favors films that question humanity's relationship with the mountains, explore the limits of human adventure, and raise awareness about environmental issues.
The heart of the festival beats at the Le Vox cinema, a historic Chamonix venue hosting the main screenings and premieres. PlanB, a creative hotel transformed into the festival's base camp, offers workshops, meetings with directors, and autograph sessions at the Galerie Café des Aiguilles.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, Parc Couttet transforms into an open-air cinema with free screenings accessible to all. These open-air sessions, set in a green haven facing the Aiguilles de Chamonix, offer a unique cinematic experience that attracts a large, family audience.
Beyond screenings, the Chamonix Film Festival offers a rich program of debates and meetings with mountaineers, directors, and explorers. Mountain excursions allow participants to experience the landscapes that inspire the films presented. The festival also welcomes international submissions via the FilmFreeway platform, opening its program to talents from around the world.
The Chamonix Film Festival positions itself as a launchpad for works celebrating the mountains in all their forms: expedition documentaries, climbing films, portraits of mountaineers, contemplative works on landscapes, and productions focused on climate change in alpine environments. Each year, the selection includes a majority of French premieres, confirming the festival's role in disseminating mountain cinema.
The 6th edition of the Chamonix Film Festival takes place from Wednesday, June 10 to Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Five days of mountain cinema, adventure, and culture at the foot of Mont-Blanc, with competitive screenings at Le Vox cinema, film discussions, meetings with directors and mountaineers, free open-air screenings at Parc Couttet, and workshops at the PlanB base camp. Ticket sales open on May 20, 2026.

The 2026 poster honors the Mer de Glace, through the image of a natural ice cave in Chamonix's ice: both a symbol of the glacier's beauty and the spirit of adventure that drives the festival.
