International dance week in a mountain resort
The Avoriaz Danse Festival is an international dance event that transforms the resort of Avoriaz into a huge ballroom every summer at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Created in 2011, this festival offers for one week at the end of August more than 130 hours of classes and workshops led by internationally renowned dancers and instructors, covering an exceptional range of styles: Cuban and Puerto Rican salsa, bachata, kizomba, west coast swing, rock, lindy hop, hip-hop, tango, and many others. Dance parties, spectacular shows, and a festive atmosphere complete a program that makes Avoriaz the summer capital of dance in the mountains.
Since 2011, the Avoriaz Danse Festival has established itself as one of the most comprehensive and unique dance events in Europe. Located in the pedestrian resort of Avoriaz, at an altitude of 1,800 meters in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, the festival offers a unique setting where the energy of dance meets the majesty of the Alps.
The festival offers a dense program of over 130 hours of classes and workshops spread over a week. Participants, from beginners to advanced, can learn or improve in about ten dance styles: Cuban and Puerto Rican salsa, bachata, kizomba, west coast swing, rock, lindy hop, tango, zumba, and many others. Classes are taught by internationally recognized instructors and dancers in their discipline.
The 16th edition (2026) innovates with a space entirely dedicated to solo dances: hip-hop, commercial, heels, and afro, led by renowned artists such as Loan, Kryss Léo, Wasaodilon, and Anna. This new feature further expands the festival's scope and attracts an audience fond of urban dance and individual expression.
Beyond the workshops, the festival offers themed dance parties every evening, hosted by specialized DJs, as well as spectacular shows featuring the instructors and guest artists. The friendly and international atmosphere of the festival, where dancers from all over France and Europe meet, makes Avoriaz a place for encounters and sharing around the common passion for dance.
The resort of Avoriaz, entirely pedestrianized, offers a preserved natural setting in summer between spruce forests, spectacular cliffs, and alpine panoramas. Dancers can combine dance workshops with mountain activities—hiking, mountain biking, swimming—for a week combining sport, culture, and relaxation at the cool altitude.
