Agricultural and gastronomic fair at the Château de Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole
Every second Sunday in August, the village of Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole, nestled on the slopes of Margeride in Lozère, hosts its famous Cheese and Farm Products Fair. This event, which has existed for over forty years, highlights the know-how of Lozère producers and the richness of the local gastronomic heritage.
The fair brings together around thirty producers from Lozère who offer a wide range of farm products:
The fair is held at the foot of the Château de Saint-Alban, a historical monument classified since 1942, on Rue de l'Hôpital. This remarkable heritage setting adds a special charm to the event and offers an authentic backdrop for this celebration of the Lozère terroir.
Beyond the market, the Cheese and Farm Products Fair offers a music festival that accompanies the day with festive melodies. The Young Farmers of the commune run the refreshment stand and catering, allowing visitors to taste local specialties on-site in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
Created in the 1980s, the Cheese Fair of Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole has endured through the decades, preserving its authentic and popular character. The 34th edition took place in 2016, the 37th in 2019, and the 39th in 2021, demonstrating the regularity and longevity of this event organized by the Office de Tourisme de Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole with the support of local farmers.
The Cheese and Farm Products Fair of Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole returns on Sunday, August 9, 2026, as every second Sunday of August, at the foot of the castle. Around thirty producers from Lozère offer farm cheeses (tommes, pélardons, sheep and cow cheeses, blue cheeses), poultry, mountain honeys, jams, and cured meats, in a remarkable heritage setting in the heart of Margeride.
