About CinéJeux

Created in 2023 by Loire Forez Agglomération, the CinéJeux Festival is a festive and family-friendly event that takes over the medieval town of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château in the Loire region every summer. Supported by the Cin'étoile cinema and the Copernic network library, this festival combines indoor and outdoor screenings, giant wooden games, video games, escape games, creative workshops, and street entertainment. For four days in July, young and old alike share fun and cinematic days with an inventive program: cine-tales for toddlers, interactive cine-shows, cine-karaoke, treasure hunts in the town's alleys, outdoor cinema and guinguette evenings by the lake with concerts, and grand themed evenings. The CinéJeux Festival is a friendly and free event that celebrates cinema and games in the heart of Haut-Forez.

CinéJeux: Where Cinema Meets Games in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château

Nestled in the medieval town of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château, in the heart of Haut-Forez, the CinéJeux Festival was born in 2023 from an initiative by Loire Forez Agglomération. The Cin'étoile cinema and the Copernic network library join forces each summer to offer four days of festivities combining cinema and games, for all audiences.

A Fun and Cinematic Program

The festival offers a varied and original program:

  • Cine-tales: Readings of illustrated stories and screening of a preview film for children aged 3 and up, hosted by the Saint-Bonnet-le-Château media library.
  • Cine-video game dance: A program of short films paired with dance video game sessions for children aged 6 and up.
  • Interactive cine-show: "The Film's Soundtrack" workshop where the audience becomes the sound effects artist, actor, and musician.
  • Cine-karaoke: A cinematic karaoke session in the theater.
  • Treasure hunt: A puzzle trail through the streets of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château.
  • Street for children, street for all: Street entertainment, culinary workshops, giant wooden games, and water games supervised by the library and the Early Childhood Relais.
  • Guinguette evening by the lake: Games, concert with a brass band, and outdoor cinema screening.
  • Grand themed evenings: Blues Brothers, Back to the Future, or Harry Potter nights with costumes, buffet, and screenings.

A Festival for All Ages

From water games workshops for 1-6 year olds to outdoor cinema evenings for older audiences, the CinéJeux Festival offers activities adapted to each age group. The teams from the Copernic network library, the Early Childhood Relais, and the Musée d'Estivareilles supervise the various activities, ensuring a rich and friendly experience for families.

Strong Territorial Roots

The festival takes place in several emblematic locations in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château: the Cin'étoile cinema (Espace Déchelette), the lake, the streets and squares of the medieval town, and the media library. This presence in public spaces contributes to the summer animation of Haut-Forez and the cultural influence of Loire Forez Agglomération.
