Travel film festival — Journeys, encounters, passion, adventure
Born in 2023 from the collaboration between L'Embarcadère, the Médiathèque, and the association La Barque, the Festival Voyageur offers a unique annual event centered around travel films and adventure documentaries. For three days, the festival transforms L'Embarcadère into a home port for travelers, filmmakers, and the curious about the world.
Each edition presents a selection of seven films by traveling filmmakers, carefully chosen for their cinematic quality and their ability to transport the viewer to distant horizons. From the Alps and paragliding to a cabin in Alaska, through the Kyrgyz steppes on horseback, Afghanistan, Benin, Nepal, the Baltic countries, or Tajikistan: the festival opens windows to the entire world.
The unique aspect of the Festival Voyageur is the presence of the directors who accompany their films and share their experiences, motivations, and filming conditions with the audience. These authentic exchanges between filmmakers and spectators form the beating heart of the festival.
Beyond the screenings, the Festival Voyageur cultivates an atmosphere of conviviality and sharing. The Raconte-moi la Terre travel bookstore, a loyal partner of the festival, offers a dedicated space for travel books, adventure stories, and guides. Exhibitions, signing sessions, and informal meetings enrich the program.
The bar and gourmet food, prepared « homemade », allow festival-goers to extend their discussions in a warm atmosphere on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
Since its first edition in November 2023, the Festival Voyageur has been steadily growing. The second edition, in December 2024, attracted over 1,100 festival-goers, confirming the public's enthusiasm for this cinematic and human event. School screenings are also offered, allowing middle school students to discover travel documentary cinema.
The Festival Voyageur returns for its 4th edition from December 4th to 6th, 2026, at L'Embarcadère. After the success of the first three editions, which saw attendance grow from 900 to over 1,100 festival-goers, the festival confirms its place in the local cultural landscape and its ambition to introduce the world through travel documentary cinema.
As every year, the festival will offer a selection of films by traveling filmmakers screened in the presence of the directors, encounters and discussions with the filmmakers, the travel bookstore space in partnership with Raconte-moi la Terre, and the bar and gourmet food that are hallmarks of the festival.
The full program, selected films, and invited directors will be announced in the fall of 2026 on the L'Embarcadère website and the festival's social media.
Building on the success of school screenings in previous editions, which allowed over 120 middle school students to discover travel documentary cinema, the festival plans to renew this initiative in partnership with local schools.
The program for the 4th edition will be unveiled in the fall of 2026. As with every edition, the festival will offer:
