Contemporary circus takes over Sablon

The Cirq'O Sablon festival was born in 2016 from the desire to share and promote contemporary circus arts and live music in the popular Sablon district of Metz. Over ten editions, this neighborhood festival has become an anticipated spring event for the people of Metz, combining quality shows, conviviality, and accessibility in a resolutely family-friendly spirit.

A circus without animals

The Cirq'O Sablon association champions a circus without animals, highlighting human performance, artistic creativity, and modern circus techniques: acrobatics, juggling, trapeze, tightrope walking, Chinese pole, Cyr wheel, and aerial arts. This ethical choice, which distinguishes contemporary circus from traditional circus, has been part of the festival's DNA since its inception.

Shows under the big top and in the open air

The festival sets up its big top at Parc Sainte-Chrétienne, in the heart of the Sablon district, creating an intimate and warm space for performances. Open-air shows complement the program, taking over the park's pathways and the neighborhood's green spaces. The lineup mixes professional contemporary circus companies with musicians from the local and regional scene.

Concerts and live music

Live music plays a central role in the festival. Concerts by local and regional bands, strolling brass bands, and musical atmospheres accompany the circus performances and liven up the site throughout the weekend. This alliance of circus and music creates a festive and joyful atmosphere that is the charm of Cirq'O Sablon.

Workshops and activities for everyone

The festival offers numerous discovery and creation workshops open to all audiences, children and adults. Introductions to circus arts, creative workshops, games, and activities allow visitors to become active participants in the festival. These participatory workshops contribute to the event's friendly and inclusive spirit.

Conviviality on the program

The festival area includes a giant barbecue and a refreshment stand, allowing families and friends to share moments of conviviality between shows. The "guinguette" atmosphere, deckchairs in the park, and relaxed vibe make Cirq'O Sablon a true moment of relaxation and sharing in the heart of the Sablon district.

A festival rooted in its neighborhood

Cirq'O Sablon is deeply rooted in the Sablon district, a popular and lively area in the south of Metz. The festival contributes to the cultural vibrancy of the neighborhood and fosters social connection by bringing residents together around a festive and accessible event. This local dimension, combined with the quality of the programming, makes Cirq'O Sablon a model for community festivals.
