About Closerie Vidéo Ouverte
ℹ️ Program discontinued. La Closerie Vidéo Ouverte (CVO) was a series of video art and contemporary creation evenings launched in March 2021 by the Théâtre rural de La Closerie in Étais-la-Sauvin (89480), during the closure of venues. Every Tuesday evening, artists and creators presented video works and mini-performances broadcast live and streamed from the stage, while awaiting the reopening of the theater. These online sessions, specific to the lockdown period, are no longer scheduled since the resumption of in-person activities.
ℹ️ La Closerie Vidéo Ouverte (CVO) is no longer held. This series of streaming video art evenings was conceived in March 2021 by the Théâtre de La Closerie during the closure of cultural venues. It was temporary in nature, «awaiting the reopening» of the venue. Since the return of in-person performances, the theater has resumed its usual programming and the CVO has not been renewed.
La Closerie Vidéo Ouverte, video art during lockdown
At the heart of Puisaye-Forterre, in the village of Étais-la-Sauvin (89480), the Théâtre de La Closerie is a place of artistic creation and dissemination founded and run by Gérard-André (singer-songwriter) and Andrée de Smet. In March 2021, while venues were closed, the team launched La Closerie Vidéo Ouverte (CVO): events broadcast every Tuesday evening, from 9 PM to 10:30 PM, live or via videoconference from the stage.
These sessions offered presentations of video works, fifteen-minute mini-performances, poetry, songs, and small concert-shows, streamed on La Closerie's website and Facebook page, without prior registration. The objective was to maintain an artistic connection with the public during lockdown.
A rural theater still active
While the CVO ceased with the reopening of venues, the Théâtre de La Closerie continues to offer a rich season of live performances (theater, comedy, world music, song, classical music, dance, poetry). Located at 17, route de Clamecy in Étais-la-Sauvin, it welcomes actors, musicians, and visual artists each season in a unique rural setting in the Yonne. ℹ️ 2026 Edition cancelled — the Closerie Vidéo Ouverte is no longer held. This series of streaming video art evenings was an initiative from March 2021, led by the Théâtre de La Closerie in Étais-la-Sauvin during the closure of venues 'awaiting reopening'. It has not been renewed since the return of in-person shows: no CVO session is scheduled for 2026. The Théâtre de La Closerie, however, continues its usual season of live performances in the venue (theatre, comedy, music).
