The Jura on foot, by bike, and by taste

Created to showcase the 600 kilometers of marked trails in the Coeur du Jura region, the Hiking Festival is a unique event that combines physical activity, heritage discovery, and gastronomic pleasures. Every year during the Ascension weekend, about fifteen guided themed hikes invite walkers, cyclists, and the curious to explore the diverse landscapes of the Jura.

Themed hikes for everyone

The festival program offers hikes for all levels, each with an original theme:

  • Gastronomic hikes: wild plant cuisine, wine tasting in the vineyards, discovery of Comté cheese and Jura specialties.
  • Heritage hikes: in the footsteps of Louis Pasteur, discovery of the "reculées", visit to the historical sites of Arbois, Poligny, and Salins-les-Bains.
  • Well-being hikes: forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), meditative hikes around the 5 elements, Nordic walking.
  • Nature hikes: observation of fauna and flora, geology of the "reculées", discovery of peat bogs.
  • Bike tours: cycling excursions through the Jura vineyards and landscapes.
  • Orienteering races: fun courses for families or friends.

An exceptional region

The Coeur du Jura region offers a remarkable diversity of landscapes: spectacular "reculées" (Baume-les-Messieurs, Les Planches-près-Arbois), the vineyards of the Arbois AOC appellation, the sources of the Cuisance river, the gorges of the Loue river, and limestone plateaus covered with pastures. This exceptional natural setting is the ideal playground for hikers of all levels.

Gastronomy and local produce

The festival emphasizes meetings with local producers. Hikes are punctuated by tastings, outdoor meals, and moments of sharing with Jura winemakers, cheese makers, and local producers. Jura wines, Comté, Morbier, Morteau sausage, and honey accompany hikers along the way.
