The festival that boosts Albi's music scene

Complot sur le Campus is much more than just a university festival: it's an ambitious cultural project, entirely conceived and organized by students from the INU Champollion in Albi (Institut National Universitaire), which for nearly two decades has championed a demanding and committed approach to live music. Its 20th edition in 2025 marked a significant milestone in the history of this event, now firmly established in the cultural landscape of the Tarn region.

Founded on the belief that culture should be accessible to all, the festival has always opted for total free entry. No tickets, no reservations: everyone can come and enjoy the concerts on the campus lawns and esplanades, students and Albi residents alike, families and music lovers. This accessibility is a strong identity marker that distinguishes Complot sur le Campus from commercial festivals.

Twenty years of emerging music

Since its first edition in the early 2000s, the festival has accompanied the evolution of French and international contemporary music. It has hosted hundreds of artists on its stages, from local Tarn bands to national touring groups, as well as emerging international artists. The festival's DNA is clearly focused on discovery: programming artists at the beginning of their careers, emerging or experimental, who would not necessarily have access to larger venues.

Over the years, Complot sur le Campus has discovered or supported many artists who later achieved national recognition. It is this mission of talent scouting that makes the student teams who organize it each year so proud.

An eclectic and adventurous program

The program of Complot sur le Campus is resolutely eclectic. Rock and its derivatives (indie rock, post-rock, punk) sit alongside electronic music (techno, house, trip-hop, experimental), hip-hop in all its forms (rap, beatbox, spoken word), and alternative music that is difficult to classify. This diversity reflects the tastes and curiosities of the student teams who program the festival.

The festival takes place over one or two days in April, offering several simultaneous stages on campus. The main stage hosts headliners in the evening, while secondary stages allow for the discovery of more niche artists in more intimate settings. Artistic exhibitions, installations, and performances sometimes complement the musical program.

A festival driven by and for students

What makes Complot sur le Campus unique is the central role given to students in all aspects of its organization. A team of about forty student volunteers ensures the programming, communication, logistics, and security of the festival each year. This total involvement is formative and constitutes for many a valuable professional experience in the fields of culture, event management, and communication.

The festival is supported by the university and by public and private partners, but maintains great freedom in its programming. This artistic autonomy is precious and guarantees an authentic program, disconnected from the dominant commercial logic of the music industry.

A campus transformed into a festival village

During the festival, the INU Champollion campus is transformed into a true festival village. Green spaces, terraces, and esplanades host the stages, food stalls, and relaxation areas. The atmosphere is friendly, young, and relaxed, but the organization is meticulous and professional. It is one of the few entirely free outdoor cultural events in the department, giving it a special place in Albi's festive calendar.
