Wine and gourmet fair in the heart of Berry
The Crevant Wine and Regional Products Fair is a gourmet event organized every last Sunday of July by the Crevant Festival Committee, in the Indre department. Created in the early 1980s, this fair brings together numerous winegrowers from the Reuilly, Châteaumeillant, and Valençay appellations, as well as from Alsace, Bordeaux, and Beaujolais, alongside regional producers offering charcuterie, essential oils, hazelnuts, lentils, raspberries, and local crafts. A flea market, musical entertainment, and on-site catering complete this festive and friendly day.
The Crevant Wine and Regional Products Fair is one of the unmissable summer events in the Indre department. Organized since the early 1980s by the Crevant Festival Committee, this fair celebrated its 40th edition in 2023, demonstrating the vitality and loyalty of an event deeply rooted in local life. Every last Sunday of July, the small town of Crevant, located a few kilometers from La Châtre, comes alive around Place Jean Moulin and the village hall to welcome exhibitors and visitors.
The fair brings together numerous winegrowers to present their productions in the village square. Wine lovers can discover and taste wines from the Berry appellations — Reuilly, Châteaumeillant, Valençay — alongside wines from Alsace, Bordeaux, Beaujolais (Morgon), and Cognac. This diversity makes the Crevant fair a true wine panorama where every visitor can find something to their liking, from dry white wine to full-bodied red.
Beyond wine, the fair highlights regional products from Berry and elsewhere: artisanal charcuterie, essential oils, hazelnuts, garlic, green lentils from Berry, raspberries, biscuits, and jams. Local artisans also exhibit their creations, offering a showcase of the region's know-how. On-site catering allows visitors to extend their gourmet discovery with meals prepared by the volunteers of the festival committee.
The Crevant Wine Fair is much more than just a market. A flea market and antique fair (stands cost 1 euro per linear meter) attract bargain hunters from the morning. Musical entertainment and shows punctuate the day, creating a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. The event, entirely free for visitors, is the result of the volunteer work of the Crevant Festival Committee and the Amicale de Crevant, who also organize other events throughout the year (pot-au-feu, tournedos dinner).
