A unique music venue in France, in the heart of nature
La Grange aux Pianos is a classical music festival founded in 2011 by pianist Cyril Huvé in Chassignolles, in the Indre region. Housed in a former barn converted into a concert hall in the heart of the Berry countryside, this unique venue hosts a festival each summer combining piano recitals, chamber music, vocal concerts, and artist encounters. The exceptional acoustics of this intimate hall and its immersion in nature make this festival an extraordinary musical experience.
La Grange aux Pianos was born in 2011 from the passion of pianist Cyril Huvé, former assistant at the Paris Conservatory of Music and a pioneer in rediscovering the expressive possibilities of early keyboards. Located in Chassignolles, at Les Chattons, in the deep Berry region, Cyril Huvé transformed an old barn into a unique music venue in France, originally designed to house and showcase his collection of antique and modern pianos.
The concert hall of La Grange aux Pianos offers exceptional acoustics in an intimate and warm setting. The architecture of the renovated barn, natural materials—stone, wood, earth—and the proximity to the surrounding nature create an atmosphere conducive to deep and attentive listening. The limited capacity of the hall allows for a rare closeness between artists and the audience, making each concert a special moment of sharing.
Each summer, La Grange aux Pianos hosts a festival that unfolds over several weeks, from August to September. The program, designed by Cyril Huvé, combines piano recitals, chamber music (string quartets, ensembles), vocal concerts, and artist-audience encounters. The repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary, with a particular focus on the Romantic period and the anniversaries of great composers.
Beyond the summer festival, La Grange aux Pianos organizes an Academy for young musicians, offering master classes and workshops in an inspiring setting. "Off-site" concerts extend the venue's reach into other spaces in the region, contributing to the cultural influence of Berry. The venue also hosts events throughout the year, making La Grange aux Pianos a major player in the musical life of the Indre region.
Chassignolles, a small village in the Indre region located a few kilometers from La Châtre, is a territory marked by the memory of George Sand and a strong musical tradition. La Grange aux Pianos is fully integrated into this cultural landscape, in dialogue with the nearby Nohant Festival Chopin and other musical initiatives in the department. Since 2011, the venue has become an essential player in the cultural life of the Indre, recognized by France Festivals and supported by local authorities.
