The capital of guitar since 1989
For over thirty-five years, Issoudun has transformed itself each autumn into the true capital of guitar. Created in 1989, the Festival Guitare Issoudun has become, over the years, one of the most important guitar events in France, attracting thousands of enthusiasts, professionals, and amateurs alike.
A festival for all guitars
The unique feature of the Festival Guitare Issoudun lies in its openness to all musical styles. Classical guitar, jazz, blues, rock, folk, flamenco, fingerpicking, gypsy jazz: all aesthetics coexist and intersect in an eclectic and demanding program. The Friday and Saturday evening concerts at the Centre Culturel Albert Camus feature internationally renowned artists, while the open stages provide a space for amateur musicians to express themselves.
The Lutherie Fair
At the heart of the festival, the Lutherie Fair is an exceptional space where the best luthiers and guitar makers gather. Classical, acoustic, electric guitars, vintage instruments, or contemporary creations: visitors can discover, try, and acquire unique instruments. This fair has become a benchmark for discerning amateurs and professionals looking for the ideal instrument.
Masterclasses and Workshops
The festival is not limited to concerts. Masterclasses led by renowned guitarists allow participants to perfect their technique and interact with established artists. Themed workshops cover various aspects of guitar playing, from improvisation to instrument maintenance.
Guitar'Broc and Aft'Heures
The Guitar'Broc is a second-hand instrument market highly popular with festival-goers, where one can find guitars, amps, pedals, and accessories at attractive prices. The Aft'Heures, moments of conviviality after the concerts, extend the celebration in a relaxed atmosphere and allow for impromptu encounters between musicians.
A unifying event
Organized by the association Issoudun, Capitale de la Guitare, the festival brings together a passionate and supportive community each year. Whether you are a beginner or a virtuoso, a simple curious person or a seasoned collector, the Festival Guitare Issoudun offers everyone a moment of sharing around the world's most popular instrument.
