About Deauville Asian Film
Created in 1999, the Deauville Asian Film Festival is the most important European festival dedicated to Asian cinema. For five days in March, the Centre International de Deauville screens over 50 films, never-before-seen in France, from 17 countries, from Iran to Japan. After an interruption in 2015, the festival was relaunched and continues its mission to reveal the diversity and richness of Asian cinema.

The Deauville Asian Film Festival: A Window onto Asian Cinema
Since its creation in March 1999, the Deauville Asian Film Festival has established itself as the largest European event dedicated to Asian cinema. Every year in March, the Centre International de Deauville hosts a selection of over 50 films, new to France, representing 17 Asian countries, from Japan to South Korea, including China, India, Iran, and the Philippines.
A Turbulent History
The festival experienced an interruption in 2015 due to financial and organizational reasons. After several years of reorganization, it was successfully relaunched, regaining its audience and its unique place in the European film landscape. The official competition awards the prestigious Lotus for Best Film, recognizing the most outstanding works in the selection.

The festival features premieres, retrospectives, meetings with directors, and round tables on contemporary Asian cinema trends. It serves as an essential springboard for the distribution of Asian films in France and Europe.
