About D'une Cour à l'Autre

D'une Cour à l'Autre is a festival of live performance and heritage created in 2013 by the association Culture en Fait in Villeneuve-de-Berg, a former royal fortified town in Ardèche. For two days at the end of May, the festival takes over the inner courtyards, Renaissance private mansions, and walled gardens of the village to offer about sixty shows mixing theater, dance, music, singing, readings, poetry, storytelling, visual arts, clowns, puppets, and mime, performed by professional artists and amateur troupes.

Live art in the courtyards of the royal bastide

Created in 2013 by the association Culture en Fait, the D'une Cour à l'Autre festival is a unique event that combines live performances and architectural heritage in the remarkable setting of Villeneuve-de-Berg, a former royal fortified town founded in the 13th century. The festival highlights the hidden treasures of this historic village: inner courtyards of Renaissance private mansions, walled gardens, and heritage spaces usually closed to the public.

A rich and accessible program

Over two days, the festival offers about sixty shows spread across nine performance venues:

  • Theater and dramatic readings
  • Contemporary and traditional dance
  • Music and singing in intimate settings
  • Poetry and storytelling in the gardens
  • Visual arts and plastic performances
  • Clowns, puppets, and mime for all audiences

The program mixes professional artists and amateur troupes from southern Ardèche, creating a rich dialogue between demanding creation and local artistic practice.

Discover the hidden heritage of Villeneuve-de-Berg

One of the festival's major attractions is the discovery of Villeneuve-de-Berg's architectural heritage. Spectators wander from one courtyard to another, some in the heart of magnificently preserved Renaissance residences, others in walled gardens whose gates only open for the occasion. This immersion into the intimacy of the historic town creates a total cultural experience, where architecture dialogues with artistic creation.

A cultural project rooted in the territory

The association Culture en Fait, founded in the summer of 2012 in Villeneuve-de-Berg, carries a project to promote culture in all its forms, in complementarity with the associative fabric and existing structures in the region. The festival is part of this approach of local cultural animation, meeting, and exchange, with a varied program that reflects the artistic and cultural resources of southern Ardèche. The festival traditionally takes place on the last weekend of May.
