Duras Fête son Vin: The Grand Celebration of Côtes de Duras
Every summer, the medieval village of Duras, dominated by its majestic Château des Ducs, buzzes to the rhythm of Duras Fête son Vin, the flagship event of the Côtes de Duras appellation. This festive weekend, dedicated to terroir, gastronomy, and conviviality, brings together winemakers, visitors, and locals around the rich viticulture of this Lot-et-Garonne region, whose AOC was recognized as early as 1937.
Tastings and Meetings with Winemakers
The heart of the festival beats under the covered market halls of Duras, where over a dozen winemakers from the appellation present their vintages. With a tasting glass for 3 euros, visitors have free access to all the stands to discover the Côtes de Duras wines in their four colors: red, rosé, dry white, and sweet white. It's a unique opportunity to meet the producers, discuss their expertise, and taste quality wines, including a Sauvignon that has been crowned world champion.

An Exceptional Wine Heritage
The Côtes de Duras appellation, located on the borders of Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne, has produced renowned wines for centuries. Bordeaux grape varieties - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon - thrive on these rolling hills to produce wines that are both elegant and generous. The festival allows you to discover the full diversity of this appellation, from full-bodied reds to aromatic dry whites and delicious sweet wines.
The Château des Ducs de Duras, Setting for the Festival
The Château des Ducs de Duras, a medieval fortress overlooking the Dropt valley, provides the spectacular backdrop for the event. Open for visits throughout the festival, it offers historical entertainment with Musketeers and a falconry show. The highlight of the weekend is the 4D mapping sound and light show, projected onto the castle walls at nightfall, offering a grand finale to this celebration of wine and heritage.
