The literary and gastronomic event of Périgueux
Since 1990, Périgueux has hosted the Festival du Livre Gourmand (formerly the International Gourmet Book Fair), the most important literary event dedicated to gastronomy in France. Organized by the City of Périgueux, it takes place every November at the Théâtre de Périgueux and on the esplanade Robert-Badinter, in the heart of the capital of Périgord. The 2025 edition broke an attendance record with nearly 24,000 visitors.
The festival offers a rich program: meetings and book signings with authors of cookbooks and gourmet literature, demonstrations and masterclasses by chefs, debates, culinary workshops, a literary café, and youth activities (« Les Petits Gloutons »). A Village des Saveurs brings together local producers and artisans presenting the emblematic products of Périgord: foie gras, truffles, chocolate, walnuts, caviar.
The festival awards several literary prizes: the Prix La Mazille, which recognizes a remarkable cookbook, the Prix Dame Tartine, dedicated to youth culinary literature (with a children's jury), and the Prix de l'Engagement, created in 2025, which distinguishes a work offering a critical or creative perspective on food. These distinctions have become benchmarks in the world of culinary publishing.
Each edition is placed under the patronage of a renowned chef who serves as its honorary president. This tradition highlights a great name in French cuisine and enriches the program with exceptional masterclasses and culinary demonstrations.
The 21st edition of the Festival du Livre Gourmand will be held from November 13 to 15, 2026 in Périgueux, under the honorary presidency of the two-Michelin-starred chef Jean-François Piège. Three days of meetings, culinary demonstrations, debates, and workshops centered around books and gastronomy, in the capital of Périgord.
The Festival du Livre Gourmand returns for its 21st edition from Friday, November 13 to Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the Théâtre de Périgueux and on the Esplanade Robert-Badinter. The festival continues its tradition of excellence by bringing together authors of culinary literature, renowned chefs, publishers, and producers from the Périgord region.
The honorary presidency of this edition is entrusted to chef Jean-François Piège, who holds two Michelin stars, is the author of numerous cookbooks, and is a media personality in French gastronomy.
Following the success of the 2025 edition (nearly 24,000 visitors, around a hundred chefs, authors, and guests), the program will feature numerous meetings and debates, culinary demonstrations, masterclasses, a literary café, youth workshops ("Les Petits Gloutons"), screenings, and the traditional Village des Saveurs bringing together local producers and artisans. The La Mazille, Dame Tartine, and de l'Engagement awards will be presented.
The detailed program and list of guests will be announced in autumn 2026. Consult the official website livregourmand.perigueux.fr for the latest information.
