Fat and Truffle Market — 2026-2027 season
The Thiviers Fat and Truffle Market is held every Saturday morning under the covered market hall, opposite the tourist office, in Place du Maréchal Foch. The fat market runs from mid-November to mid-March: you can find goose and duck foie gras, magrets, confits, stuffed necks, fattened poultry, and other local Périgord specialties.
The Périgord Black Truffle
From the first Saturday of December, truffle growers join the market and sell Périgord black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) retail, under quality control, until the heart of winter. It is one of the most renowned truffle markets in Périgord Vert.
An authentic local gathering
Beyond fat and truffles, the weekly market offers seasonal fruits and vegetables, goat and cow cheeses, honey, and local farm products. An essential winter event to discover the flavors of Dordogne.

A renowned foie gras market in Périgord Vert
The Marché au Gras et aux Truffes de Thiviers is one of the most renowned winter markets in the Périgord Vert. Every Saturday morning from November to March, the covered hall of Thiviers, opposite the tourist office, hosts local producers who offer their goose and duck foie gras, magrets, confits, stuffed necks, and other regional specialties.
The black Périgord truffle
From December onwards, the market is enriched with the black Périgord truffle (Tuber melanosporum). Truffles are sold individually under supervision, in compliance with quality standards. The Thiviers truffle market begins on the first Saturday of December and continues until the end of February.
An authentic regional event
Thiviers' weekly market also offers seasonal fruits and vegetables, goat and cow cheeses, honey, and black-footed pigs from Périgord. It is an unmissable event to discover the authentic flavors of the Périgord region.
