The temple of foie gras and duck products in Périgord
Every winter, the Place Saint-Louis in Périgueux transforms into a true temple of Périgord gastronomy with the Marché au Gras. Producers from Dordogne and Périgord offer their finest fat duck products: whole, semi-cooked, or canned foie gras, confit, magret, gizzards, stuffed necks, and other traditional specialties.
The Marché au Gras is held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, from November to March, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, on Place Saint-Louis. Producers sell directly to individuals and professionals, guaranteeing the freshness and quality of the products. Special markets are organized for the holiday season.
The Marché au Gras de Périgueux perpetuates a tradition dating back several centuries. Dordogne is one of the main foie gras producing departments in France, and this market is its most prestigious showcase. Périgord foie gras enjoys an international reputation for excellence.
On some Saturdays, the market comes alive with tastings, cooking workshops, and musical entertainment. The award-winning December market features special events centered around festive products.
The Marché au Gras de Périgueux will return for the 2026-2027 season, from November 2026 to March 2027, on Place Saint-Louis. Producers from Dordogne will offer foie gras, confits, magrets, and specialties of Périgord fat duck.
