Lettres du Monde, Literature Without Borders
Lettres du Monde is a festival that celebrates world literatures. Every November, it invites authors from all continents for encounters, readings, and debates in Bordeaux and Gironde.
Encounters and Readings
The festival features public encounters with authors, readings aloud, literary performances, and screenings. These events take place in libraries, bookstores, and cultural venues in Bordeaux.
Writing Workshops
Writing workshops led by invited authors allow the public to explore literary creation and discover new forms of expression.
Intercultural Dialogue
The festival promotes dialogue between cultures through literature, offering cross-cultural perspectives on contemporary societies.
Lettres du Monde — edition 2026
For its 2026 edition, from November 12 to 22, the Lettres du Monde festival returns to Bordeaux and Nouvelle-Aquitaine on the theme « The Best of All Possible Worlds? ». For about ten days, some twenty foreign and French writers, translators, and publishers will meet the public during readings, encounters, and literary performances.
Lettres du Monde 2026 — « The Best of All Possible Worlds? »
From November 12 to 22, 2026, the itinerant festival Lettres du Monde takes over Bordeaux and all of Nouvelle-Aquitaine for a new edition themed « The Best of All Possible Worlds? ». Some twenty foreign and French authors, accompanied by translators and publishers, are invited to reflect on the world, question it, and tell its stories.
The encounters take place in partnership with book professionals and public reading institutions — libraries, media libraries, and independent bookstores — as well as with schools and universities in the Bordeaux metropolitan area and the region. The detailed program (invited authors, venues, and schedules) will be published closer to the festival on the association's official website.
