International independent cinema at the heart of Bordeaux
FIFIB (Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux) was born in 2012 with the ambition to highlight international independent cinema. Every autumn, it transforms Bordeaux into the capital of auteur cinema for an intense week of screenings and encounters.
The festival offers several competitive sections: an international feature film competition, a short film section, as well as special screenings and previews. The selected films represent the diversity of world independent cinema, from first films to works by established filmmakers.
FIFIB is also a place for encounters between filmmakers and the public. Masterclasses, round tables, and post-screening discussions allow for a deeper reflection on contemporary cinema. Retrospectives and tributes complete the program.
The festival takes place in the cinemas and cultural venues of Bordeaux, notably Utopia and the Jean Vigo cinema, creating a friendly atmosphere typical of human-sized festivals.
15th edition of FIFIB, the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival. For this anniversary edition celebrating the festival's 15 years, the event will exceptionally take place from November 2 to 7, 2026, one month later than its usual October slot.
FIFIB returns to Bordeaux from November 2 to 7, 2026 to celebrate its 15 years. To mark this anniversary, the organization has shifted the festival by one month compared to its usual October slot.
As every year, the program revolves around three competitions: an international feature film competition, a French short film competition, and the Contrebande competition, dedicated to self-produced films made outside conventional production circuits. The festival also offers sneak previews with film crews present, residencies, professional meetings and workshops, as well as the FIFIB Nights combining concerts, parties, games, and screenings.
The detailed 2026 program (films, guests, schedules) had not yet been unveiled at the time of our editorial review.
The festival takes place in several cinemas and cultural venues in Bordeaux, notably the Utopia cinema and the Jean Vigo cinema. Accessible by tram.
Individual screenings and festival passes are available. Reduced rates for students and job seekers.
