Extrême sur Loue: The Big MTB Celebration in Franche-Comté

Since 1999, Extrême sur Loue has become one of the most important cycling events in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Organized by the Vélo Club Ornans, this autumn gathering brings together nearly 2,800 participants each year—MTB enthusiasts, nature lovers, international athletes, and weekend cyclists—in the exceptional setting of the Loue Valley.

A Range of Races for All Levels

Extrême sur Loue offers about twenty races and rides accessible to everyone:

• MTB Marathons: Competition courses for the most athletic, with challenging routes through the Doubs region's terrain.
• MTB Rides: Discovery routes for amateurs, with several distances to choose from.
• Gravel: Two routes of 50 km and 88 km to explore the valley's paths and landscapes.
• Trail Running: A 12 km route around Ornans for runners.
• Family Routes: Circuits suitable for families and children.

Routes in a Spectacular Setting

The routes traverse the iconic landscapes of the Loue Valley: deep forests, limestone cliffs, panoramic viewpoints, stone villages, and crystal-clear rivers. The courses are designed to offer a balance between sporting challenge and the pleasure of discovery.

A Festive and Friendly Event

Beyond the sporting events, Extrême sur Loue is a true celebration. The entertainment village in the center of Ornans offers local catering, regional product stands, musical entertainment, and relaxation areas. Saturday evening is an opportunity to share a friendly moment among participants and volunteers.

A Certified Organization

Extrême sur Loue benefits from the Rando d'Or label from the French Cycling Federation, a guarantee of organizational quality and route safety. The event is supported by the Loue-Lison community of municipalities and the department of Doubs.
