Festhéa is the largest national festival of amateur theatre in France, often nicknamed 'the Avignon of amateur theatre'. Since 1986, this event has hosted non-professional companies from all over France each autumn at L'Escale in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, selected during regional meetings organized between March and June. For a week at the end of October, about twenty troupes present their creations to an enthusiastic audience of over 6,000 spectators. Festhéa is a fantastic space for meeting, exchange, and celebration of amateur theatre in all its diversity.

Festhéa: The Avignon of Amateur Theatre in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire

Festhéa is a unique festival, the largest national gathering dedicated to amateur theatre in France. Since 1986, this event has hosted non-professional companies from all over France each autumn at L'Escale in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, selected during regional meetings. A National Selection Process

Festhéa's uniqueness lies in its selection process. Throughout the first half of the year, regional meetings are organized across France, between March and the end of June. These selections allow amateur theatre companies to present their creations before a jury that chooses the best for the national festival. This process guarantees the quality of the shows presented in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire and gives troupes from all regions the opportunity to compete and gain national recognition.

L'Escale: The Heart of the Festival

L'Escale, the performance venue in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, has been Festhéa's historic home for over fourteen years.
