A Free Traditional Music Festival
Festiv'Halles is a traditional and world music festival that enlivens the Pointe des Halles in Decize, in the south of the Nièvre region, every first weekend of August. The event, entirely free, has become a must-attend gathering for world music enthusiasts in Burgundy.
Twelve Free Concerts
Over three days, the festival offers twelve free concerts spread across two stages:
- French Traditional Music: Bourrées, music from Morvan and Berry, diatonic accordion
- Blues and Country: Roots blues and country-folk bands
- Gypsy Music: Manouche jazz and Eastern European gypsy music
- International Repertoires: Music from Quebec, Romania, and other partner regions
The performing groups are internationally recognized on the traditional and folk music circuit.
18 Hours of Performance
In total, the festival offers 18 hours of performance spread over the three days, with concerts during the day and in the evening on the two stages located at the Pointe des Halles, near the nautical stadium and the campsite.
Artisan'Halles: The Artisan Market
Alongside the concerts, the festival hosts Artisan'Halles, an artisan market that showcases local and regional know-how: pottery, jewelry, leather goods, basketry, textiles, and original creations.
A Historic Site
The Promenade des Halles, where the festival takes place, is a site listed in the historical heritage of Decize. This natural peninsula, formed by the confluence of the Loire and the Aron rivers, offers a green and airy setting by the water, ideal for an outdoor festival.
Decize, City of Confluence
Decize is a commune in the south of the Nièvre, built on a rocky promontory at the confluence of the Loire, the Aron, and the Nivernais Canal. This historic town, with its medieval ramparts and Romanesque church, boasts rich heritage and an exceptional geographical location that makes it a prime holiday destination.
