Caph'ARTS'Naüm: A Unique Festival in the Heart of a Medieval Castle
Nestled atop the village of Lafauche, amidst the ruins of the former 12th-century fortress, the Caph'ARTS'Naüm Festival is an unmissable cultural event in Haute-Marne. Since its inception, this multidisciplinary event has taken over the ruins and gardens of Château de Lafauche to offer a vibrant mix of street theater, music, shows, and local gastronomy.
An Exceptional Heritage Setting
The Château de Lafauche, classified as a Historic Monument since 1927, provides a spectacular backdrop for the festival. This former fortress, built between the 11th and 15th centuries, overlooks the Prez plain at an altitude of 400 meters. With its five hectares and the remains of its eighteen towers, the site testifies to its strategic importance in the Middle Ages as the last bastion of the kingdom in the county of Champagne. It is in this historically rich location that artists and spectators gather each summer.
An Eclectic and Bold Program
Caph'ARTS'Naüm offers a rich and varied program that showcases artistic diversity:
- Street Theater and Shows: Street theater companies, burlesque shows, clowns, puppetry, and street performances take over the various stages of the castle.
- Concerts: An eclectic musical program mixing rock, jazz, blues, funk, electro, world music, afrobeat brass bands, and DJ sets.
- Workshops and Activities: Creative workshops, children's games, a game library, and open-air cinema complete the program.
- Local Gastronomy: On-site catering highlighting products from the Haute-Marne region and the know-how of local producers.
Multiple Stages for an Immersive Experience
The festival is organized around several stage areas within the castle, including the Scène des Jardins disparus and the Scène de la Saônelle, allowing spectators to move from one performance to another in a festive and friendly atmosphere. Festivities begin in the late afternoon and continue late into the night.
A Project Driven by Volunteer Commitment
The Caph'ARTS'Naüm Festival is organized by the association Les An'ARTS'Chroniques, based in Bourmont-entre-Meuse-et-Mouzon. This association aims to promote regional heritage through local arts, culture, and know-how. Nearly 120 volunteers mobilize each year to bring this event to life and contribute to the enhancement of the remarkable site of Château de Lafauche.
A Growing Festival
Since its first edition, Caph'ARTS'Naüm has continuously grown, attracting an ever-larger and loyal audience. In 2024, the 9th edition welcomed festival-goers on August 23rd and 24th with a program mixing street performances and concerts. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 10th anniversary with an exceptional three-day edition, confirming its place in the cultural landscape of the Grand Est region.
