Cirque et Fanfares: The Free Street Arts Event in Dole
The Festival International Cirque et Fanfares de Dole is a major cultural event that animates the historic city center of Dole, in the Jura, every early summer. For fifteen editions, it has established itself as a must-attend event on the street arts, contemporary circus, and music scene in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
A Completely Free Festival
Total free access is at the heart of the festival's philosophy. For a weekend, all shows, parades, and concerts are accessible freely and for free. This accessibility makes the festival a profoundly popular and unifying event, bringing together thousands of spectators in the streets, squares, and gardens of Dole.
Circus, Brass Bands, and Street Arts
The festival offers a demanding mix of artistic disciplines. Contemporary circus companies take over the city's squares and courtyards with acrobatic, aerial, and poetic performances. Brass bands from around the world parade through the streets, bringing rhythm and color to the heart of the city. Concerts and surprising street creations complete the program.
Dole on Stage
The festival takes over about fifteen locations in the center of Dole, from historic squares to secret gardens, including courtyards and lesser-known public spaces. Among the venues: the Jardins des Carmélites, the Cours Saint-Mauris, and other emblematic spaces of the city. All performances are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
An Event Supported by the City of Dole
The festival is organized by the City of Dole with the support of the Region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the Department of Jura, and the Grand Dole urban community. Its budget of approximately 220,000 euros reflects the ambition of this leading cultural event.
